After Belize opened in October 2020 to international visitors, the management team Naia wanted to jump-start their food and beverage program and implement a new system of inviting local chefs from around Belize to offer a special dinner to both visitors and the local community. The guest Chef nights have been a complete success. While maintaining strict Gold Standard Health and Safety protocols, 1981 Beach Bar and Grill has been sold out every night. Some of the notable chefs have been Chef Sean Kuylen, Chef Rob Pronk, Bethany Ferrier and from Nepal, and the Everest Restaurant in Belmopan Chef Raj Karki.
There are so many advantages to having visiting chefs. The most rewarding is the added exposure for the chefs who are not from Placencia, most likely not working due to Covid, great exposure and training for the Naia F&B team and those living or visiting Placencia the experience of a new culinary offering. Naia and 1981 Beach Bar and Grill has really enjoyed all of our visiting Chefs and will continue to challenge our creative offering as we, too, continue to recover.
